    The greatest concentration of last speakers of Rama have been living along this creek and in the environs of this creek for generations. Literally means 'tiger creek'. During the Contra War, they scattered, though. As of 2008, there was again a number of people, speakers and non-speakers, in the Aguila/Cane Creek area since a community of Rama had been started in Aguila in the late 80s. Many of these were from Rama Cay, having started to come down through an in-law connection. Many lived principally in Aguila, where there was a school, and had plantations in Aguila and/orCreek. Some with historical connections to Cane Creek both lived and planted in Cane Creek--mostly older ones with no small children to go to school. By 2009, though, Mestizos were moving in heavily from the creek head, and from the interior to the back of Aguila, cutting down the bush, bringing in cattle and hogs, planting corn, cutting Ramas' crops, and taking over and by both intimidation and force.

    Originally occupied by one family, and abandoned as a living place for many years, though people from there who had moved to Cane Creek planted some, and picked oranges, mangoes and avocados from the several fruit trees previously planted by Old Willie. Was big jungle for many years. Punta de Aguila now is a large and growing relatively new settlement, after Pedro Macrea, who was born there, and his sons decided to start clearing it in the late 80s, in part to keep Mestizos from taking over. As of 2009 has about 100 inhabitants, nearly all Rama, with only a couple of mixed familes. Many are from Rama Cay. Several native speakers of Rama live there. located between Monkey Point and Cane Creek. About 1 1/2 hrs. to walk quickly in dry weather to Monkey Point, about 45 min. to do so to Cane Creek.
    It is also known as 'Bocal', Spaniards and Kriols have given it that name. Presumably there used to be large top-knotted hawks, or perhaps Harpy Eagles there.

Generally not known what "Skwalup" refers to; however, Miss Nora remembered her mother taking her shore there, and showing her a skwalup fruit. It was the size of a star apple, and very, very sweet. It was a low tree, or big bush. She had never since seen one. The fruit was the same color as sapodilly.

    From Cane Creek bar, up just past the swamp. The grass type of wang is what Wang Taik is named for. Several generations of Ramas have had houses and planted there, and there are a number of different fruit trees.
  • Léxica:
    There are two different plants called wang: One is a grass which grows on creek banks and down into the water, ad the other is a medium-tall plat with long leaves that grow upward which is found in open bush spaces.
